Accessibility Statement

Helix Industries is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation.

Standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA wherever practical. This is an ongoing effort rather than a one-off project, and we review the site periodically as it changes.

What we've done

  • Added a "skip to main content" link so keyboard users can bypass repeated navigation.
  • Used semantic landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and labelled navigation regions for screen reader users.
  • Made sure form fields, including the mailing list signup, have properly associated labels rather than relying on placeholder text alone.
  • Added visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation.
  • Gave interactive dialogs (such as consent and information pop-ups) proper dialog roles, keyboard support, and focus handling.
  • Provided meaningful alternative text for informative images and hid purely decorative images from assistive technology.
  • Reduced or removed non-essential animation for visitors who have "reduce motion" enabled in their operating system.

Known limitations

Helix Industries is styled as a deliberately retro, early-2000s "government portal" as part of the wider Tooth & Dagger story. Some stylistic elements typical of that era, such as scrolling ticker text and decorative pop-up panels, are part of the intended experience. Where these elements don't carry essential information, we've hidden them from assistive technology and disabled their motion when "reduce motion" is requested, rather than removing them outright. A small number of navigation links are placeholders for sections that are still under construction; these are marked accordingly rather than presented as fully working links.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site or the mailing list signup page, please let us know through the support channels listed on the site. Where possible, tell us the page, the assistive technology or browser you were using, and what happened — this helps us fix it faster.
